When and why should I replace my guttering?

Your guttering although may not be the part of your home that wows people it is a very important aspect of your home. They direct water away from your home’s exterior walls, windows and foundation preventing water making its way inside. Water can be a tricky customer and can track down places and cause expensive damage to your home. When you think about this it is pretty obvious that you need to make sure that your guttering is in great repair and if not that it is a good idea to resolve this to avoid other potentially more expensive damage to your home.

Keep an eye out for warning signs that your gutter system needs to be cleaned, repaired or replaced.

What damage can bad gutters cause?

  • If you don’t replace gutters when they need it, your house could suffer ill effects, such as:
  • Flooding into your home
  • Damaging other parts of your roofline products such as your fascias
  • Depending where the water is tracking it can cause damage to your walls or driveways etc
  • Insect breeding grounds – if guttering is blocked and hiding a plethora of leaves and other vegetation it can encourage the breeding of insects and pests
  • Various leaks sometimes away from the actual damaged guttering due to capillary action and water tracking along the path of least resistance.
